The mission of the Outreach Commission is to support St. Joseph Catholic Community as “A Loving Community Humbly Reaching Out in Service”. The Outreach Commission promotes the ministries of serving others outside the church walls and is the liaison between these ministries, and the Pastoral Council. The Outreach Commission strives to hear, understand, support and be the voice of the everyday parishioner who is in need of, or involved in, outreach ministries.
Function / Responsibilities
The Outreach Commission provides unity of purpose and direction to the Outreach Ministries in the Parish.
To identify parishioners who are isolated because of illness, housing, transportation or other issues
To research and identify the needs of the neighborhood
To acquire a basic understanding of the needs within our Church, Community, Nation and World.
To foster communication, collaboration, and coordination of Outreach Ministries
To foster communication, collaboration, and coordination with other Commission groups.
To work with parish professional staff and volunteers to support the outreach effort
To help identify and recruit individuals to work within Outreach Ministries
To identify, help develop, and support new Outreach Programs
To encourage individuals working in Outreach ministries to be involved in the Outreach Commission
To provide a monthly report of individual ministry developments and special events to the Pastoral Council
Update yearly the Individual Participant Roster for each Ministry
To meet on a regular basis, at least quarterly
To evaluate the direction and accomplishments of the Commission
