Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Offering a helping hand to those in need in our community
For those seeking assistance, calls are taken on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at 256-539-7476 until we reach the number of individuals we can help that week. No assistance is provided via the church office. If you have an existing case, and need to reach us, you can leave a message with your name and the name of the individual who visited you and your call will be returned.
Becoming Part of St. Vincent de Paul
In 2017 SVDP of St. Joseph visited 318 families and individuals, providing financial and food assistance and extending the love of our Lord from our parish to the homes and hearts of those in need around it.
If you are interested in becoming part of St. Vincent de Paul, we highly encourage you to join us at our weekly meeting, Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the RE Building, or to contact a member for more information.
Request for Volunteers - Thrift Store
Our Thrift Store needs your help! The St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, located in Huntsville at 2140 Jonathan Drive (off of North Memorial Parkway, south of the Mastin Lake Road intersection) has a special need for volunteers. We are looking for individuals to be cashiers, sort donations, and other duties to help our Thrift Store fulfill its mission. Even a few hours of your time every week is a big help to our store.
Share the Harvest Food Pantry Donations
Donations to the food pantry are always greatly appreciated. St. Vincent de Paul members collect food donations before each Mass on the first full weekend of the month. Dates and items of critical need are posted in the bulletin the week prior.
Items of reoccurring need are Hamburger Helper type meals, boxed macaroni and cheese, dried pasta, spaghetti sauce, crackers, instant mashed potatoes and oatmeal.
