Catholic Schoolhouse, a local homeschool program, is currently registering students for the 2018/2019 academic year in Madison, AL. More than an academic co-op, Catholic Schoolhouse is a structured program meeting weekly for homeschoolers that includes chorus, two hours of classroom instruction, hands-on science, art projects, and opportunities for socializing after class. Pilgrimage to Europe

St. Vincent de Paul will have its monthly food collection to stock the pantry before all Masses next weekend, March 3 and 4. ​Items of particular need include Hamburger Helper or Tuna Helper type meals, pasta sauce, canned fruit and canned Ravioli-type pasta for the little ones.

CRS Rice Bowl

We prayed, fasted and gave alms - and now we celebrate Easter Joy!  Our Lenten journey with CRS Rice bowl ends as we encounter our Risen Lord.  We reflect on the brothers and sisters we have walked with, and we commit to bringing Easter joy to each persoon we meet in our daily lives. Fasting and Abstinence Guidelines

Lenten fast and abstinence is a call to a deeper spirit of penitential conversion. Ideally, this personal penance should reach out to the rest of the world through acts of charity and mercy. The real purpose of the fast and abstinence is “to develop the inner freedom to resist.” Abstinence means not eating meat (beast or fowl). All Catholics, age 14 and older, are obliged to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, all Fridays of Lent, and the Paschal fast of Good Friday. Fasting means not eating as much as usual. BISHOP ROBERT BAKER has issued the following statement about Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday:  “For the first time since 1945, Valentine’s Day this year falls on Ash Wednesday.  Some have wondered whether a dispensation from the standard laws of fast and abstinence would be granted.  Out of respect for the importance of Ash Wednesday and the way this custom underlines the importance of the Lenten season at its outset, a dispensation will not be given.  Those who wish to celebrate Valentine’s Day may do so the day before (Mardi Gras) or on another non-penitential day.”
